ANTONIO SEQUEIRA is a Portuguese award-winning writer/director whose films have participated in a number of high profile Academy Award and BAFTA Qualifying festivals. Recently, he was named "25 Screenwriters to Watch" by American magazine "Moviemaker" and selected to the ZFF Academy.

 

 ‘Autumn’ was his debut feature based on a script that was developed with the aid of the Torino Film Lab. As a work-in-progress, the film was selected to the “Goes to Cannes” section of the Marché du Film in the ‘Cannes Festival’, and eventually had its world premiere at the ‘Austin Film Festival’, winning the prestigious Audience Award. At the end of 2023, ‘Autumn’ opened nationwide in cinemas in Portugal, being critically and commercially successful. It was even nominated for the Sophia Awards by the Portuguese Academy of Cinema. In 2024, it as distributed by HBO MAX, where it remained on the Top 10 Movies for 20 days. 

 

In addition to selling a few feature scripts, Antonio directed the limited series 'Instaverse' for Portuguese broadcaster, RTP.  He is also the founder of film production company Movie Monkeys and recently co-founded Kurious Studios with producer Steven Flynn and recurring creative partner, Anastasiia Vorotniuk.

 

Antonio is a graduate of the London Film School with an MA in Filmmaking and a member of BAFTA.
